Hi There,

as some of you know, i am collection data on the influence oof network related factors to the inworld expirience.

This done by public data collection, like in viewtopic.php?f=3&t=694.

As well, as data i collect at the host i run for this test. (some pics as examples attached).

i know did set up 4 regions wich are mirrored on similar setups, but in germany and the united states.
- same hoster
- same server hardware (rented root.. no vps or virtual something)
- same network setup
- same OS/MONO
- same load (by running some not public processes...)

The regular productive regions are:
Sharkland Tropical 1 and Sharkland Tropical 2 - one SIM
Sharkland Tropical 3 and Sharkland Tropical 4 - one SIM

The mirror is Sharkland UD Tropical 1 to 4

i would like to ask you to give me some results on this test:

- i need your loaction (country) , some info on your internet connection would be nice but more a add on

tp from Sharkland Tropical 1 to Wright Plaza and back
compared to
tp from Sharkland US Tropical 1 to Wright Plaza and back

tp from Sharkland Tropical 1 to Sharkland Tropical 3 and back
compared to
tp from Sharkland US Tropical 1 to Sharkland US Tropical 3 and back

region crossing from Sharkland Tropical 2 to Sharkland Tropical 4
compared to
region crossing from Sharkland US Tropical 2 to Sharkland US Tropical 4

is the tp/crossing stable ?
is it fast / faster than the other location ?

i will keep the testsetting up for 7-8 days...

Any tester posting the results here would help very much - and the results will be available here as well.

cheers
Ralf

Ralf, it's no problem doing this but are you looking for a subjective "oh yes it was much quicker to hop from a to b than b to c" or is there some way we can accurately measure the activity?

Or do i need to read the post again?

yes, because this is about user expirience - so its a quality based assesment.

the users quality feelings are almost subjectiv.

compare this to ISO 9001 in the end-user trading scenario.

it will end up in statics how people judge and what may influence this, given this identical scenarios.

cheers
Ralf

Hi Ralf,

My Country Location is Germany, and i'm on a poor 2Mbit DSL Line :

her are my Results :

1. tp from Sharkland Tropical 1 to Wright Plaza and back : very fast, stable, about the same as i experience inside SL.
2. tp from Sharkland US Tropical 1 to Wright Plaza and back : very fast, stable, about the same as 1.

3. tp from Sharkland Tropical 1 to Sharkland Tropical 3 and back : very, fast, stable Even a bit faster then 1. and 2.
4. tp from Sharkland US Tropical 1 to Sharkland US Tropical 3 and back : very fast, stable . can't tell a diffrence to 3.

5. region crossing from Sharkland Tropical 2 to Sharkland Tropical 4 : fast ( about a 1 Sec delay on crossing), stable
6.region crossing from Sharkland US Tropical 2 to Sharkland US Tropical 4 :a bit faster, ( maybe just half a second delay), stable.

Conclusion :

It seems to me, all your Regions are very well connected to the Grid and faster then most of the Regions i visited before.
The Difference between the Germany and US Hosted Regions is from my location not really measurable.

Can you post a link to the Hosting Provider you are using ( and maybe the setup of the servers you are using ), maybe after the tests are done?

Looks like good Quality to me....

regards

Ziah

Heho,

test are still very welcome.

Results will be posted sometime next week on http://opensim.cybertechnews.org/

Even if you don´t want to contribute results to the community, sending vie Email/IM or "just testing" helps. (just testing at least feeds the measurement).

cheers
Ralf
